
Alison Harney
Alison Harney began violin studies at the age of seven in Lancaster, California, making her debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic when she was 13. Ms. Harney continued her studies at the Eastman School of Music and the New England Conservatory, graduating from both institutions with honors.
Ms. Harney is the Associate Concertmaster of the Sun Valley Summer Symphony in Idaho as well as the Music Director of the festival’s Chamber Series. Other summer activities include the Cactus Pear Chamber Music Festival in San Antonio and the Portland Chamber Music Festival in Maine. In the 2005-06 season she performed the complete cycle of Beethoven Sonatas for Piano and Violin in Boston with pianist Judith Gordon.
Ms. Harney is currently the Principal Second Violinist of SLSO. In the 2006-07 season she joins guest conductor Nicholas McGegan for Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5.
