Film Screening of Warhol's Chelsea Girls
May 1, 2007 at 7:30pm

UPDATE: If it rains, the film will be screened next door at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis at 7:30pm.

Enjoy a rare screening of Andy Warhol's iconic film Chelsea Girls. Co-organized with Cinema St. Louis, the film will be shown in its original format, with two projections running simultaneously. The film will be projected outside in the Pulitzer's courtyard.

Chelsea Girls follows the lives of those living in the famous (and infamous) Chelsea Hotel in New York City. The film was shot in a variety of locations including the Chelsea, Warhol's Factory, and apartments throughout Manhattan, including that of the Velvet Underground. Many of Warhol's "superstars" are featured in the film including Nico, Ondine, International Velvet, Brigid Berlin, Mary Woronov, and Ingrid Superstar.

Andy Warhol and co-director Paul Morrissey separated the film into 12 vignettes which are projected side-by-side. As the projectors cannot be completely synchronized, no two screenings of the film are ever the same.
