The Light Project
October 17, 2008

View The Light Project, a series of outdoor light installations presented in conjunction with the current exhibition, Dan Flavin: Constructed Light. The works are located near the Pulitzer building in Grand Center.

International in scope, the project includes installations by Ann Lislegaard (Copenhagen, Denmark), Sebastian Hungerer & Rainer Kehres (Karlsruhe, Germany), Spencer Finch (New York) and Jason Peters (New York). The artists have presented site-responsive outdoor installations which employ and/or reference projected, emanating, or natural light.

The works will be on view through October 17, 2008, and with the exception of Spencer Finch's work, on every night from dusk until dawn. Spencer Finch's ice cream is available Tuesdays through Sundays from 12:30pm - 3:30pm.

All works will be available during evening open hours at the Pulitzer. The galleries will be open every Thursday during September from 6-9pm, and every night throughout the last week of the Flavin exhibition, which closes October 4th.

To read interviews with the artists, watch the installations take place, and learn behind-the-scenes information on the project, visit the web catalogue.

This project is headed by the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts, in collaboration with contemporary art curators from the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, the Saint Louis Art Museum, and White Flag Projects. The initiative is motivated by the Pulitzer’s commitment to the arts and interest in social and urban revitalization, beginning with its own Grand Center neighborhood in midtown St. Louis. The Light Project will illuminate the block on Washington Boulevard where the Pulitzer is located.
