St. Louis, MO – On Saturday, September 24, 2005, artist Richard Serra and Guggenheim curator Carmen Giménez will engage in a public discussion about Serra’s work and the Pulitzer installation, Brancusi and Serra in Dialogue. Beginning at 2pm, the discussion will be held at the Contemporary, with a reception to follow in the courtyard shared with the Pulitzer.
The Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis and the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts are collaborating to present these two distinguished figures in art and scholarship. Serra, generally considered to be one of the most important living artists, worked with Giménez on his highly acclaimed Guggenheim installation that opened in Bilbao, Spain this past June. Giménez also curated last year’s important Brancusi exhibition, which was shown at the Tate Modern in London and the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
This event will be the last chance to see Brancusi and Serra in Dialogue at the Pulitzer, and will be one of the first opportunities to view the Contemporary’s newly opened exhibitions, Girls’ Night Out and Cindy Sherman: Working Girl. Both institutions will remain open until 6pm that evening.
Admission to the event is free. Tickets are required for seating; non-ticketed standing room will also be available. To reserve your seat visit www.contemporarystl.org or call 314-535-0770 ext. 215.
