Minimalism and Beyond
October 14, 2005
This installation focused on artists who were working in the 1960s, as well as those of a younger generation who have both redefined and continued the legacy of Minimalism. Works by Carl Andre, Dan Flavin, Donald Judd, Ellsworth Kelly, Barnett Newman, Richard Serra, and Richard Tuttle as well as Robert Gober, Felix Gonzales-Torres, Roni Horn, and Rachel Whiteread were presented.
St. Louis is rich in Minimal art, and the installation drew heavily from local collections, including that of the Saint Louis Art Museum. In addition, Minimalism and Beyond was a part of a broader program with SLAM, which presented Minimalist works from its own and local collections.
