In conjunction with the exhibition Hiroshi Sugimoto: Photographs of "Joe" is the publication Joe, which features the nineteen photographs on view at the Pulitzer, as well as additional photographs from the series. Novelist Jonathan Safran Foer (author of Everything is Illuminated and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close) composed a text that relates to the sculpture and the photographs without describing or defining them.
