Pulitzer Announces Senior Curator

After an international search, the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Francesca Herndon-Consagra as Senior Curator. Herndon-Consagra, currently Curator of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs at the Saint Louis Art Museum, will assume her position on September 22, 2008.

Poetry at the Pulitzer

The Pulitzer and the Poetry Foundation in Chicago have co-organized an evening of poetry and discussion, featuring the writers Mary Jo Bang, Peter Campion, Geoff Dyer and Raphael Rubinstein. The discussion takes place on April 18th and will begin at 7pm.

People Watching at the Pulitzer

6pm-7pm: Listen as a panel discusses the topic of "Portrait: Artists and Sitters in Contemporary Art" in the Pulitzer's Main Gallery. Afterwards, enjoy an opportunity to discuss the topic further with the speakers, which include professors from a range of St. Louis universities.

7pm - 10pm: Explore the Pulitzer's galleries and engage in a dialogue about the exhibition with student docents from Saint Louis University. Walk across the street to the Bruno David Gallery and view sculptural responses to portraiture created by students from Washington University. Enjoy refreshments in the Pulitzer courtyard and meet students from throughout St. Louis.

Portrait Series Concert -- Cage & Feldman

The next concert in the Portrait Series at the Pulitzer will be held on January 31st and February 1st at 7:30pm (doors open at 7pm). The program will consist of Credo in US by John Cage and Samuel Beckett, Words and Music by Morton Feldman and will be perfomed by members of the SLSO.

First Concert in the Portrait Series -- Monday, November 13th

New Exhibition Opens at the Pulitzer

The Pulitzer's new exhibition, Portrait/Homage/Embodiment, opens with a public reception from 6-9pm tonight. This exhibition explores the ways in which modern and contemporary artists have represented individuals or referenced groups of people. In the context of the Pulitzer building, the installation attempts to broaden the viewer's awareness of this subject matter and the creative potential it has to offer. On view are works by Chuck Close, Roni Horn, Medardo Rosso, Doris Salcedo, Cindy Sherman, Andy Warhol, and more.
